A Strategic Decarbonisation Partnership

Partnering for Decarbonisation and Environmental Impact

Achieving true sustainability and decarbonisation for a heavy industrial manufacturing plant requires significant support and guidance from experts in the field. That is why we are working closely with ProEnviro, a leading specialist in industrial environmental management. With their support, we are radically changing our manufacturing processes.

Through a combination of major internal investment and successfully secured government funding, we are aggressively reinvesting in the decarbonisation of our Tipton plant. Our goal is to reduce our carbon emissions at every stage of the steel drum’s life cycle. From new drum production, our reconditioning services, to safe disposal.

Modernising and Decarbonising Plant Equipment for Maximum Efficiency

To immediately reduce our environmental impact, we have been upgrading our facility with highly efficient plant equipment. We have successfully retired boilers, replacing them with state-of-the-art, advanced steam generators. These have drastically cut our energy and gas consumption.

Additionally, we have installed variable speed compressors, fast-acting roller shutters, and precision louvers, amongst other upgrades. These updates optimise our thermal efficiency, ensuring our energy usage strictly matches our production demands. This has reduced waste and lowered our carbon footprint.

A Clear Roadmap to Net Zero

Our journey to decarbonisation is an ongoing process.

We have established a robust roadmap to continuously invest in the greenest available solutions for steel drum production. In the near future, we will be rolling out further energy-saving initiatives. These may include the installation of solar panels and destratification fans to better regulate temperatures.

By embracing these innovative and emerging technologies, Ramsden Drums is determined to reach net zero.

We aim to ensure our drums remain the most reliable, and sustainable choice, for UK industry.
